چکیده
Thin Pd–Ag layers have been successfully deposited on ceramic supports with controlled surface characteristics. The need for less fragile membranes and ease of sealing connection leads to the study metallic thin Pd-based membrane development. Metallic supported are prone intermetallic diffusion issues so an interdiffusion barrier must be introduced. However, sufficient quality direct deposition expensive not readily available in market. It is thus important how improve roughness commercially rough filters, order allow a smooth, delamination-free layer. This work reports first attempt towards standardized preparation procedure cheap, rough, unrefined Hastelloy X tubular filters. focus reduction, uniform selective tubes tuned via 1) polishing 2) addition smoothening layer based boehmite dip-coated dispersion. time was assessed by studying average support's variation, permeation behavior ability retain coating. found that best trade-off between extent gas permeance support amounts 6 h. Moreover, it increasing load precursor solution thicker larger but greater instability. 1,2%wt proved reproducibility coverage. Different dipping-sintering routes were evaluated surface's suitability electroless plating: single route most suitable deposition. plating performed onto treated results continuous layer, proving possible selected

This paper summarizes R&D activities and progress at NORAM Engineering and the University of British Columbia (UBC) on preparation and testing of thin palladium-based membranes and their applications. Most of these activities were carried out internally at NORAM, some jointly with UBC and their spin-off company, Membrane Reactor Technology (MRT) through a wide range of projects. Key results out...
متن کاملAnalysis of Surface Roughness and Micro-hardness in Roller Burnishing of Aluminum Alloy 6061
Burnishing is a chip-less finishing process, in which a hard roller or ball presses the surface layer of part to perform plastic deformation in the surface layer and produce improved finish, enhanced hardness and compressive residual stresses on the surface of special materials such as Aluminum and Brass. In the following research, the effect of input parameters such as feed rate, cutting speed...
متن کاملA PdAg bimetallic nanocatalyst for selective reductive amination of nitroarenes.
Herein we have identified an optimal catalyst, Pd1Ag1.7, for the tandem reductive amination between nitroarenes and aldehydes (selectivity > 93%). Key to the success is the ability to control the compositions of the investigational Pd1-xAgx (x = 0-1) catalysts, as well as the clear composition dependent activity/selectivity trend observed in this study. This catalyst features a wide substrate s...
متن کاملEffect of surface roughness on adhesion of graphene membranes
A theoretical model is presented to predict how the surface roughness may affect the adhesion between graphene membranes and their substrates. The bending modulus, which increases drastically from monolayer to multilayered graphene, plays an important role in the transition from conformal to non-conformal morphology of the graphene membranes on a corrugated surface. As such, the measurable adhe...
